Women’s Circles

“A circle of women may just be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. If you find one, for the love of all that is good and holy, dive in.”― Jeanette LeBlanc

I think these words beautifully capture the essence of our deep longing to feel that we are part of something bigger than ourselves & that there is something deep and powerful that connects us.

I certainly want to feel that I am part of a powerful force, that I’m tapping into something bigger than myself when I’m flowing with individual purpose and vision.

We need to belong, and we need to nurture our sense of belonging.

More than ever, we need to behave in ways that say “yes, I see you, too, needing to belong, and we belong here together.”

For me, those words evoke a sense of freedom, too, and a sense of play: “dive in.”

When I read those words, I remember the comfort and safety and laughter I experienced as a child, surrounded by sisters, friends, mother, grandmothers.

Of course it’s not all roses, but there is something powerful about feeling you have a place within a group of women.

Offering retreats just for women is a gift I give to myself as much as the women who attend. I know I’m not alone when I say that I also want to feel supported in my need for rest, in my need to be softer, in my need to break apart and take my time with the whole process. We women are the backbone of families & communities. We know this. We act on this. And we need to give ourselves time to rest. The world won’t give us the time to rest, so we have to take it for ourselves, and it is my privilege and honor to be able to create the time and space to make it happen.

My hopes, of course, are that each woman who experiences the empowerment, joy, and therapeutic benefit of retreating will continue her own journey to unlearn the ideas that she has to earn rest or joy or retreating, and also that she will create ripples in her life to uplift other women who have yet to experience it.

There’s more to the quote that often gets cut, because the journey to joyful freedom is one that requires truth, vulnerability, & effort, and those don’t sell as well.

“A circle of women may just be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. If you find one, for the love of all that is good and holy, dive in. Hold on. Love it up. Get Naked. Let them see you. Let them hold you. Let your reluctant tears fall. Let yourself rise fierce and love gentle. You will be changed. The very fabric of your being will be altered by this, if you allow it. Please, please allow it.” ― Jeanette LeBlanc

Are you willing to get real in order to heal the wounds you carry? If yes, I highly recommend women’s circles and retreats as part of your path. Suffering that is shared becomes lighter. Joy that is shared becomes more vibrant. Life and laughter that is shared is as beautiful as it gets.
