I am heartbroken to announce that this retreat has been canceled. My co-host had to pull out due to personal circumstances.

I was looking forward to this beautiful weekend so much, and am as disappointed as you are to see it disappear.

Thank you for your gracious understanding and support.

Women’s Retreat

Southern California

November 8-12, 2023

GATHER

“A circle of women may just be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. If you find one, for the love of all that is good and holy, dive in.” - Jeanette Leblanc

THIS IS FOR US

As WOC, we offer this retreat as a soothing respite from daily overwhelm, especially for our BBIPOC sisters. All are welcome.

Your Hosts

This retreat is led by two friends, both teachers, both WOC, both passionate about creating space for women to tap into JOY.

  • My parents named me Jennifer, but I am known also as mom, professor, mentor, healer, leader, student, survivor, patient, disruptor, daughter, auntie, wife, and partner.

Life is full. And because some of that fullness is challenging, I left academe to teach yoga and meditation. Some of my colleagues said “what a waste” but I say “what a GIFT.” When I teach yoga and meditation, I can see people’s lives changing right in front of me. Right there. In the moment. For the better.

My work is to create space for us practice healing movement, stillness, and awareness together. I’m here for you and with you, practicing and journeying and healing along side you, and I’m so glad that you’re here.

  • My name is Alicia. I am an attorney who stepped away from the field “temporarily” to take time to honor my journey. I decided to take a break because I was feeling burnt out and felt in my soul that I had strayed away from my joy. I knew that my inner flame was dimming.

Even though it was very frightful to step away from stability, I knew it was time. I embarked on a messy journey that then became the most beautiful journey of self-Rediscovery.

I’ve given myself permission to feel all the raw emotions that I have carried for so long. I’ve given myself permission to allow the river that was deep in me to find its way back into the ocean. I’ve given myself permission to release what no longer serves me. I’ve given myself permission to be present.

Now you’re here with me, and we can journey together.

Included with Your Retreat Registration:

  • This gorgeous retreat center in Southern California has been recently renovated under a new owner who knows exactly what we need to dive deep into practice and to create space for community.

Each room sleeps 2-3-or-4 guests. We will match you with other solo travelers or you can claim a whole room if you book as a friend/family group.

  • We’re gathering to practice, and to co-create a space for healing & joy.

All are welcome, whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing or teaching for years.

Show up as your whole self. Bring your cultural heritage and all the pieces of your life with you onto your mat and meditation cushion.

All you need to pack are clothes that you are comfortable in for group practice. Yoga mats and props are provided by the retreat center hosts.

  • A note from Alicia:

Circles and yoga have been a balm for me on my journey of rediscovery. When I was younger the women in my family gathered in the kitchen. They shared stories, laughed, cried, and cooked. As a child I would watch and admire from afar. When I got older, I became part of the circle. When we gathered, I felt held, supported and present. Wisdom was exchanged, knowledge was shared, and energy was transmitted. It felt like magic.

I abandoned the circles at Mama’s because I became too busy but later, I found my way back. I felt a calling in my bones - a calling back to my self and back into circles.

I hope to be with you in circle in November. Come gather, absorb, and honor presence with us.

  • Some of our practice time will be devoted to special workshops designed to give you tools that you can take with you - tools and inspiration that will bring more awareness and joy into your everyday life:

    Release & Transform

    Calm Yourself / Energize Yourself

    Celebrating Your Roots

    Creating Vision Boards

  • Jennifer will treat you to live music with crystal singing bowls and gongs a few times during your stay - during savasana and/or a separate session for deep healing.

Just lie back and let the sound rinse out some of what’s weighing you down.

  • Our in-house chef at Ojas will wow us with two plant-based meals each day: post-yoga brunch & dinner.

Early fruit, coffee, and tea will be ready if you need some fuel before morning practice, and an afternoon snack will fuel our practice before dinner.

Other dietary requirements? Reach out to Jennifer or Alicia when you register to be sure that we know what you need.

  • Bring comfortable, close-toed shoes for some meditative group walks on trails just outside our door.

Spend your free time hiking at the Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve or tucked into one of the many outdoor seating areas for journaling, reading, and resting at OJAS.

  • Relax & unwind in our own private hot tub - we have the property to ourselves.

If the weather is still warm enough, enjoy the outdoor pool, too!
